Create a VM from a snapshot

Start a new VM with the disk of one of your snapshots.

  1. Open Create New VM and pick a plan as usual.
  2. In the Order Summary find Create from snapshot (optional). The field appears only if you have snapshots on the same provider as the plan you picked.
  3. Choose a snapshot. Leave it on the default option to use just the plain OS image.
  4. Pick the OS image, which is still needed to launch the VM. If you chose a snapshot, its disk replaces the image's disk right after launch.
  5. Choose Confirm & Pay.

Everything else about ordering, including wallet balance and options, works as in Create a VM.

Rules

  • The snapshot must be one of your own and on the same provider as the plan.
  • The snapshot must be Completed. If it is not ready, the order is refused with a message explaining that the snapshot is not ready.
