Create a VM

Step by step, from choosing a plan in the catalog to a running server.

Open Create New VM in the sidebar. The page has the plan catalog on the left and your Order Summary on the right.

Steps

  1. Choose a provider and region. Use the Provider and Region filters, or leave them on All to see every plan.
  2. Pick a plan. Each card shows the provider, the provider's own plan name, vCPU, RAM, disk and the live monthly price in Rial. Select one to fill the Order Summary.
  3. Choose the OS image. The list contains the operating systems available for that plan.
  4. Set access. Paste your SSH public key (for example ssh-ed25519 AAAA...), and/or set a root password. A key is the safer choice. Leave the password blank to use the key only.
  5. Adjust the options you need (see below). The defaults suit most cases.
  6. Check the total. It updates live as you change options.
  7. Choose Confirm & Pay. The first month is charged from your wallet and the VM appears in your list as Provisioning.

If your wallet cannot cover the plan, the summary says how much is required and links to Top up your wallet. See Wallet top-up.

Options

Option What it does
Hostname Name of the VM. Also the name you type to confirm deleting it later.
System disk (GB) Size of the main disk. Defaults to the plan's disk.
Assign a public IP Gives the VM a public address. On by default.
Bandwidth (Mbps) Public bandwidth, when a public IP is assigned.
Open ports Inbound TCP ports allowed from anywhere, comma separated. Defaults to 22, 80 and 443.
Assign an IPv6 address Adds IPv6 where the provider supports it.
Add a data disk Adds a second disk of the size you choose.
User Data A script the VM runs on first boot (cloud-init).
Description, Tags Labels for your own reference.
Join private network Connects the new VM to one of your private networks on the same provider. See Private networks.
Create from snapshot Starts the VM from one of your own snapshots on the same provider. See Create a VM from a snapshot.

Some options depend on the provider and may not apply to every plan. If an order cannot be placed, the page shows the reason.

After you confirm

Creating a VM takes anywhere from seconds to a few minutes. The VM page refreshes on its own every few seconds and the status moves from Provisioning to Running. If something goes wrong the status becomes Failed and the page shows the reason.

Connect with SSH using the key or password you set, or use the Console.
