Providers and regions
Which cloud providers back Venesh Cloud, how their real names are shown, and what differs between them.
We show the real provider
Every plan in the catalog is a real plan from a real provider, shown with the provider's own name and the provider's own plan name. Nothing is renamed or hidden. What you see is what runs your VM.
| Provider | Status |
|---|---|
| AWS | Available |
| OVHcloud | Available |
| Alibaba Cloud | Available |
| Hetzner | Coming |
Regions are the data-centre locations each provider offers. Which regions and operating systems you can pick depends on the plan.
Differences worth knowing
Behind one dashboard the providers still behave differently in a few places. Where it matters, these docs call it out.
| AWS | OVHcloud | Alibaba Cloud | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Console | Text (serial) instructions only | The VM's screen, shown in the page | Graphical VNC link that needs a compatible client |
| Shrinking a VM | Supported | Not supported, upgrades only | Supported |
| Copying a snapshot at the provider | Supported | Not supported | Supported |
| Firewalls and floating IPs | Not available yet | Supported, within the provider's quota | Not available yet |
Copying works only for completed snapshots. See Resize a VM, Console access and Copy a snapshot.
Same provider for related features
Resizing a VM, joining a private network, copying a snapshot and creating a VM from a snapshot all stay on the same provider. A VM never moves between providers.
